The Philips HeartStart FRx Infant/Child Key allows the FRx AED to convert the existing adult pads into infant/child by decreasing the level of defibrillation therapy. This makes the Philips AEDs simpler to use and more cost-effective over time. There is no need to keep pediatric infant/child pads on hand, or keep up with their expiration date. When the Key is used, the AED adjusts to provide special pad placement and CPR instruction.
The Key can be used indefinitely. The HeartStart FRx Smart Pads II are used for all emergencies.
